Our
hotel is sutuated on the west coast of the island in la Cotinière
and as part of the town of Saint Pierre d'Oléron.
The Ile d’Oléron in Charente Maritime is 32 km long
and 16 km wide. It is tied to the continent by a free viaduct
and is the biggest French island (off France) after Corsica. The
climate is oceanic temperate and the period of sunshine per year
is similar to the French Riviera.
The long sandy beaches are ideal for swimming and practicing water
sports. In the low tide you can go on foot to the more rocky shore
to collect shellfish.
Some of the Oléron villages have kept their picturesque
local architecture : white houses with colourful shutters.
The port and the village of La Cotinière are some of the
most popular places of Oléron. You can watch the return
of the fishermen and unloading of the fish, as well as walk around
the shops or enjoy seafood at the many restaurants of the village.
